Putting time in

Most time tracking fails because people forget.

So it is built around that. One keystroke starts a timer in the browser or from the Mac menu bar. The week is a grid, so a day you missed takes seconds to drag back into shape instead of rebuilding it from memory on Friday.

It notices when you stop

Ten minutes without input while a timer runs and the app asks what to do with the gap: keep it, drop it, or file it as its own entry. Sleep and shutdown never quietly keep billing.

The forgotten timer

A timer left running yesterday, or past ten hours, gets flagged instead of quietly becoming a fourteen hour day. It is never stopped for you.

Getting it back out

The week, broken down.

By client, project, person, task, or every single entry. Click a row to filter by it, click the hours to see what made them up. Entries keep their exact start and stop, so nothing is rounded behind your back.

Switch the preview between Alex and Jamie. Admins see revenue, members see hours. A member never sees a rate, not even their own, and that is enforced in the API rather than hidden in the interface.

With a team

Get your team on, then see their week.

Invite people by email or add them yourself, set who is an admin, and assign them to the projects they are actually on. From then on you can see everyone's logged hours in one list and open any person's week.

This is not capacity planning. It is the roster and the hours, so you can tell what the team spent last week without having to ask anyone.

For clients

The same hours become an invoice.

Draft from unbilled time and expenses. Group the lines by project, task, person, or every single entry, saved as that client's default. Then push the draft straight to Xero.

Status comes back

A signed Xero webhook moves the invoice through draft, awaiting payment, paid, and voided. Nothing is re-keyed by hand.

Billed time locks

Time on a pushed invoice turns read-only, so history cannot move under a sent invoice. Void it in Xero and the hours unlock themselves.

Expenses ride along

Category, amount, project, date, and whether it is billable. They land on the invoice next to the hours instead of in a separate spreadsheet.

Already on Harvest? One import brings people, clients, projects, tasks, rates, time, expenses, and invoices across, and keeps the Harvest IDs so nothing lands twice.

API and agents

Your time, wherever the work happens.

Paste the MCP URL into Cursor or Claude and sign in with the account you already have. No key to mint, no server to run. It is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, and every tool runs the same rules as the app, so an agent cannot read a rate its user cannot.

Tools like groupchat start a timer against a ticket, then read the whole team's total for that ticket back. The label is copied when the time is written, so renaming the ticket later never rewrites hours already booked.

The REST API is the one the app itself runs on. Your hours stay readable and exportable.

Once entries are marked, the same breakdowns you already have split by energy. Which projects leave you better off, which tasks drain you, and how that changed month to month.

Good for a team, too

Ask people to mark their last two weeks before a one-on-one. The pattern usually shows work that should move to somebody who enjoys it, and work nobody should be doing at all.
